Xantrex PROwatt SW 2000 Pure Sine Inverter Review: Is It Worth It for Truckers?

My quick take

I'll be straight with you. Pure sine power that's safe for laptops, CPAPs and TVs. The one I'd trust in a sleeper. Your hotel load runs on your batteries. Weak ones mean no-start mornings and a cold, dark sleeper.

I don't care about fancy boxes or a long list of features nobody uses. What matters out here is simple: does it work when you need it, does it hold up to the bouncing and the heat and the cold, and is it worth what you pay? That's how I looked at the Xantrex PROwatt SW 2000 Pure Sine Inverter. If you already know this is the one, you can check the current price on Amazon here and skip the rest.

What you get

Specs can change between versions, so double-check the listing for the exact model before you order.

What I like about it

• Clean power
• Reliable
• Quiet

Those are the things that actually make a difference on a long run. A lot of drivers I talk to say the same thing: once you have one that works, you stop thinking about it — and that's the whole point. Plenty of reviews on the Xantrex PROwatt SW Amazon page back that up, so it's worth a read if you want more opinions.

What I don't like

• Expensive
• Needs heavy cables

No product is perfect, and I'd rather tell you now than have you find out at a truck stop at 2 a.m. For most drivers these aren't deal-breakers, but they matter depending on how you run.

Before you buy

Match group size and CCA to your truck, and if you run an inverter, get pure sine wave for electronics and laptops.

Who should buy it (and who shouldn't)

Buy the Xantrex PROwatt SW 2000 Pure Sine Inverter if you're one of the clean power for laptops and cpaps. That's who it's built for, and that's where it shines. If one of the downsides above is a big deal for you, look at the other picks in Batteries & Charging — there's probably a better fit. Still on the fence? See what other drivers are saying about it — the questions section is gold.

My bottom line

The Xantrex PROwatt SW 2000 Pure Sine Inverter earns a 4.6 out of 5 from me. It's not about having the most expensive gear — it's about having gear that doesn't let you down when the load's on the line. For clean power for laptops and cpaps, this is an easy one to recommend.
